This photo is by far one of the best I have ever seen, and is at the forefront to some of my favorites of all time.
The artists vision, technique and originality have created a gorgeous photograph with strong impact.
The model is breathtakingly beautiful, her eyes piercing, soul stealing, elegantly deep and mesmerizing. I love the artists capturing of the background, and the level of focus. Her pose and gaze makes you wonder what could she be thinking of? Why is she looking at the viewer this way? So many possibilities, and truly this photograph is worth more then a thousand words.
I like the depth of field - the lack of known background increases our interest in the foreground and simplifies this piece.
The composition is unusual, with the space to her left at least a good four times larger than the space on the right. However, this works well. Perhaps it's something about the tilt of her head, but cropping the photo to a more balanced, conventional composition would cause the photo to lose some depth.
Criticisms? Perhaps this could be improved just with a little more contrast. Black-and-white is a good way to put this image across, but perhaps further darkening some areas could give it more depth. I don't think it's really needed though.
One area I'm not quite so sure about is her necklace - is there a way of emphasising this more? It pales in comparison to the ribbon under her chest, which in turn could perhaps do with less contrast.
Overall, I really like this photo. A definite fave - it needs more!
