Since you want a critique, I can't really say no. I've seen the subject matter many, many times (as have all of us, more than likely) but this one stands out for a few reasons.

The first is the contrast of focus and its effect on the shot overall. The blurred body of the kitten seems to blur into the background, but its white color keeps it from truly fading from focus and makes the effect striking. The kitten's head in sharp definition makes the viewer pay attention to its stark, original markings and the intensity of its blue eyes, which are a whole subject in themselves.

The lighting and color choices are also very good. The sepia tones give the kitten's white fur a kind of radiance, but serve to soften the picture overall.

And finally, the subject itself is just beautiful. Sometimes we are reminded of just why animal photos are so popular here.
